Config lines are an excellent way to customise your phone's settings in bulk, all while keeping things hassle-free.
We've compiled a list of practical config lines that you can set up on your Yealink device.
Please enter each config line on it's own line.
Area Code Auto-Dial Prefix
This is helpful for customers who frequently dial numbers with the same area code - such as 01483 for Guildford.
dialplan.area_code.code = 01483
dialplan.area_code.min_len = 6
dialplan.area_code.max_len = 7
dialplan.area_code.line_id = 1
The sections which are customisable are in Bold.
min_len specifies the minimum number of digits the user must dial for the area code to be automatically added as a prefix.
max_len specifies the maximum number of digits the user must dial before the area code won’t be automatically added as a prefix.
line_id specifies the desired line to apply the area code rule to. 0 will apply to all lines. Multiple line ID’s are separated by commas.
Internal/External Ringing Tone
Use this if a customer would like a different ringtone for internal calls. Please note that other custom ringtones are not currently supported on Yay.
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.1.text = Internal
distinctive_ring_tones.alert_info.1.ringer = 3
VoIP Spam - Ghost Calls
This can be used if a customer is experiencing issues with their phone(s) ringing but no one is on the other end of the line when answered.
features.direct_ip_call_enable = 0
sip.trust_ctrl = 1
features.direct_ip_call_enable = 0 disables being able to directly dial a phone by IP address (setting to 1 would enable this feature)
sip.trust_ctrl = 1 forces the device to only accept a SIP message from the SIP server (setting to 0 would disable this).
Pausing Call Recording
This feature can be used if a customer wants a line key to pause recording. However, it’s generally no longer necessary, as these settings can now be managed directly through the user’s provisioning tab in the Yay portal. That being said, it still remains a valuable configuration option.
linekey.6.label = Record Off/On
linekey.6.value = *10 [or whatever the shortcode is]
linekey.6.line = 1
linekey.6.type = 11
Changing Incoming Call Information on Display
This changes the information displayed on the phone for an incoming call.
phone_setting.call_info_display_method = 0
Possible settings:
0 shows the name then Number.
1 shows the number then Name - Some devices can only show a single name and number, so you may need to disable your call route name in order to see your contact’s name appear.
2 shows just the Name.
3 shows just the Number.
4 shows their full contact information (display name sip:xxx@domain.com).
5 shows ‘Null’.
Changing Call History To Display Number/Name (even with Route Nickname turned on
Useful if a customer wants to see Caller ID in Call History but has Route Nickname turned on. This changes the information displayed on the phone’s call history log.
features.call_log_show_num = 2

1 shows the Number
2 shows the Name and Number
By default, the Yay.com profile is set to show both the name and number (2).

Changes the information displayed on the phone’s display when the receiver is picked up to make a call.
features.caller_name_type_on_dialing = 1
1 shows the Label
2 shows the Display Name
3 shows the User Name
Yay displays the Display Name (2) by default, but this can be changed by editing the extension's User Nickname in the Yay portal.
Configuring Call Park BLF’s
Used if a customer wants to set up line keys for Call Parking slots. This is mostly no longer required, as all settings can now be managed through the user's provisioning tab in the Yay portal.
linekey.x.label = Park 1
linekey.x.line = 1
linekey.x.type = 10
linekey.x.value = *11
linekey.x.label = Park 2
linekey.x.line = 1
linekey.x.type = 10
linekey.x.value = *12
linekey.x.label = Park 3
linekey.x.line = 1
linekey.x.type = 10
linekey.x.value = *13
linekey.x.label = Park 4
linekey.x.line = 1
linekey.x.type = 10

linekey.x.label = Park 5
linekey.x.line = 1
linekey.x.type = 10

Codec Enable/Disable
This is used to enable/disable specific audio codecs on devices and change the priority in which they will be used.
account.1.codec.opus.enable = 1
account.1.codec.opus.priority = 1
account.1.codec.g729.enable = 0
account.1.codec.g729.priority = 8
Change opus/g729 to the appropriate codec type where required.
Priority number 1 is higher, 8 is lower.
Enable codec is 1

This is used to set an admin username and password.
security.user_password = admin:admin
Expansion Module Configuration

expansion_module.1.key.x.type = 16
expansion_module.1.key.x.line = 1
expansion_module.1.key.x.value = 1002
expansion_module.1.key.x.pickup_value = *88
expansion_module.1.key.x.label = Example
Commonly used line key types:

This turns off warning messages e.g. ‘the default admin password is in use’ warning.
phone_setting.warnings_display.mode = 0

remote_phonebook.data.2.name = [Example]
remote_phonebook.data.2.url = [Phonebook URL from Yay account]
Restrict Outbound Calling
This line is used to restrict outbound calls via config lines.
This is largely redundant now as restrictions can be applied in the Yay portal.
dialplan.block_out.number.1 = 00.
This line will block any length number beginning 00 (the dot signifies any number of digits following 00).
dialplan.block_out.number.2 = 0.
This line will block any length number beginning 0 (the dot signifies any number of digits following 0)
