What is a POV (Pre-order Validation)?

A POV is a request that we send to the current provider of the number, and it asks them to provide us with all the details about the number.

Those details include who the right people to get in touch with are, as well as what the address associated with the number. These details are important as if we get them wrong the transfer request will be rejected.

They do take 5 business days on average to come back, but are very useful if you do not know what these details are as that allows us to get them without you having to try to get them from your provider. When raising a port request, you can toggle Request POV. If toggled on, the Porting Team will raise a POV before submitting the port request, to ensure that all details are correct.

It can also help in any instances where a transfer request is wrongfully rejected, as we can challenge the rejection using the POV as evidence.

Please note: POV's can be rejected. The most common reason for a rejected POV is a mismatch in End User details. To avoid delays, please verify the following are correct when raising a transfer. You can check this by asking your current provider to confirm your details (they may hold different, or outdated details that you're unaware of):

  • Company Name
  • End User Name

Not all providers opt in to the POV register and therefore we can’t raise them for numbers with these providers. However, the majority of providers are opted in, and they're not, the Porting Team will be in touch to discuss how you wish to proceed.

Please note that POVs are a complimentary service that we offer, completely free of charge.
